This conference was the 12th in a series of conferences dating back to the 1980s, the aim of which is to explore the physics and chemistry of organic systems.  The conferences focus on organic electronics and optoelectronics, and specifically in using photophysical and electrical measurements to understand the processes occurring that are relevant to devices and optoelectronic systems.  Of significant importance to the conference is the desire to create an interaction between those who work on devices with those who work on more fundamental measurements in organic systems.

ERPOS12 had strong contributions from both physicists and chemists and acted as a good forum for discussing the current developments and challenges in the field.  In this context the work presented at the conference had advantages for the LAMP project.  It enabled the novel ideas of the LAMP project to be disseminated to an important scientific audience who are active in the large field of optoelectronics; this enables wider knowledge of the goals of LAMP to be spread to people in the scientific community.  The work presented also enabled scientific discussions with those same people, enabling their input and expertise to be utilised for the benefit of LAMP.
